Nell’ultima giornata del Salone del Libro, Maurizio De Giovanni ha presentato il suo ultimo romanzo, Caminito: tra un’introduzione del sindaco Vincenzo Cuomo e qualche battuta sullo scudetto, l’autore ci ha accompagnato nella scoperta del suo ultimo lavoro, da un capo all’altro del mondo. E’ esattamente questo che l’ha affascinato, il ”senso dell’opposto”, l’autunno di Buenos Aires con l’aprile di Napoli del ’39: una Napoli che non avrebbe voluto raccontare, la Napoli di un’Italia cambiata, che si è resa necessaria per il personaggio di Marta, figlia di Ricciardi, attorno alla quale ruota tutta l’opera, ”passaporto per il futuro di tutti”.
Dopo il saluto dato con Il pianto dell’alba, è stato un infarto a dare allo scrittore la spinta per riprendere la storia del suo personaggio più amato e ammirato: è proprio il senso di precarietà dato dal costretto isolamento ad avergli rivelato quante storie avesse ancora Ricciardi da raccontare. Il titolo, Caminito, è suggerito da una strana canzone, con una musica composta tre anni prima delle parole: l’ unione di due storie d’amore separate da più di mille chilometri e che conferiscono un’atmosfera struggente e romantica, nostalgica, all’intera opera. Caminito, confessa De Giovanni al microfono, gli ha insegnato quanto gli sguardi siano importanti, e che tutti hanno una strada quasi scomparsa, un caminito.
C’è poi il bisogno di raccontare ”maternità incomplete”, donne che sono madri, donne e uomini che devono assumerne il ruolo, senza contare la parentesi storica, gli anni scuri del ’39, incarnati nella figura di Modo. Tra la ripresa delle strade di Napoli e l’aria calda in arrivo dall’Argentina, Maurizio De Giovanni ci accoglie di nuovo con il suo personaggio di punta, il commissario cilentano che è tanto mancato sugli scaffali delle librerie.
