Uno dei cinque frati rimasti nel convento si racconta ai microfoni di Comete.
A due passi dal Palazzo Reale di Portici, lungo Via Università, è ubicato il convento di Sant’ Antonio. Secondo un’antica leggenda il convento fu fondato da San Francesco durante un suo viaggio a Portici. Carlo di Borbone, poi, lo fece intitolare a Sant’Antonio. A popolarne le sale oggi, sono rimasti in pochissimi.

Frate Claudio è uno dei cinque frati che abitano nel convento la cui vita quotidiana è scandita dalla preghiera, dalla gestione ordinaria della casa, dai lavori manuali, dall’accoglienza e dall’apostolato condiviso con tutta la fraternità. L’età media dei frati è di 60 anni.
Qual è la sua opinione riguardo il rapporto tra la Chiesa ed i giovani?
“I cambiamenti culturali al giorno d’oggi sono più repentini rispetto al passato”. Frate Claudio prosegue spiegando che, a suo avviso, ciò comporterebbe una maggiore responsabilità per la Chiesa, che deve cercare di trovare una nuova modalità per portare un messaggio che è in contrasto con il pensiero degli adolescenti. Commentando l’iniziativa delle giornate Fai, grazie alle quali molti studenti del territorio hanno potuto visitare il convento, il Frate ha aggiunto che, secondo la sua opinione, i riferimenti artistici presenti in Campania andrebbero maggiormente valorizzati per permettere ai giovani di conoscere la storia della loro regione.
“Siamo frati perché San Francesco voleva che la comunità fosse un po’ come una famiglia e per questo condividiamo tutto”: frate Claudio ha concluso la sua intervista con queste parole, spiegando l’essenza dell’ordine francescano.
