nei film della trilogia del Cavaliere oscuro del regista Christopher Nolan. L’edificio,
che ha subito un incendio nel film Batman Begins del 2005, è stato ricostruito nel
film successivo “Il cavaliere oscuro” del 2008. Purtroppo tuttora la casa necessita di
lavori urgenti sul tetto e sui camini. Si teme che le intemperie possano penetrare
negli interni, considerati tra i migliori esempi di design e artigianato vittoriano in
Gran Bretagna. Historic England (precedentemente English Heritage ) ha inserito le
Mentmore Towers nel registro “A rischio “, elencandole in “cattive” condizioni con
“rischio immediato di ulteriore rapido deterioramento o perdita di tessuto”,
spiegando che “il tetto dell’ala di servizio è in molto cattive condizioni e il
deterioramento della casa principale sta accelerando con aree di ingresso di acqua
