A darne notizia è la famiglia: “I figli di Dame Angela Lansbury sono tristi nell’annunciare che la loro madre è morta nel sonno” nella sua abitazione di Los Angeles. Nata in Gran Bretagna da madre irlandese il 16 ottobre del 1925, Lansbury è fuggita dall’Inghilterra durante la guerra e a soli 17 anni si stava già dedicando al musical, mentre a 19 era già sotto contratto con la Mgm (Metro-Goldwyn–Mayer) a Hollywood dopo aver esordito un anno prima nel thriller “Gaslight”. Nella sua lunga carriera che l’ha vista regina dal cinema al teatro, ha conquistato cinque Tony Award, fra i quali uno nel 1966 per “Mame” e poi ancora nel 2009, a 83 anni, per “Blithe Spirit” inoltre detiene il record di 12 candidature agli Emmy come miglior attrice grazie al ruolo della scrittrice Jessica Fletcher nella serie tv “Murder, She Wrote”. La serie debuttò anche in Italia,nel 1988 ed è proprio grazie a questo ruolo che per tutti noi la carismatica protagonista Angela Lansbury divenne “semplicemente” La signora in giallo, un’autrice con la capacità di trovarsi sempre nel posto giusto al momento giusto per risolvere un crimine prima di scriverne. Da allora l’iconica scrittrice ci ha fatto compagnia per 12 stagioni risolvendo ben 274 omicidi. Quindi, per salutare una delle attrici più amate nel panorama televisivo, abbiamo deciso di raccogliere 5 curiosità e aneddoti sulla serie cult che l’ha resa così famosa.
1) Un ruolo accettato per soldi
Angela Lansbury, premio Oscar alla carriera nel 2014, era innamorata del teatro più che di cinema o televisione. E fu lei stessa a raccontare qualche anno fa che aveva accettato il ruolocosì riuscito de «La signora in giallo» soprattutto per motivi economici: «L’ho fatto per i soldi. Arriva un momento nella vita teatrale in cui dici: “Beh, non posso guadagnare con il teatro”. Così, ho preso la decisione di lavorare in televisione in modo molto specifico», aveva dichiarato.
2) Miss Marple?
La serie fu inizialmente pensata come la versione statunitense di Miss Marple, ma i possessori dei diritti del personaggio di Agatha Christie non lo permisero. Gli ideatori Fischer, Levinson e Link decisero quindi di affidare il ruolo di Jessica Fletcher all’attrice Angela Lansbury, che nel 1980 aveva interpretato il ruolo di Miss Marple nel film “Assassinio allo specchio”. La puntata-pilota debuttò sulla CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) il 30 settembre 1984.
Anche il titolo originale della serie (Murder, She Wrote) trae origine dal personaggio di Miss Marple: l’adattamento cinematografico del 1961 del romanzo “4.50 da Paddington” portava infatti il titolo originale in inglese “Murder, She Said” (Assassinio sul treno, in italiano)
3) La doppiatrice italiana
In Italia, «La signora in giallo» non sarebbe la stessa senza la voce inconfondibile della doppiatrice italiana, Alina Moradei: dopo una lunga carriera in Rai, Moradei si è spenta nel 2016, non senza avere incontrato di persona Angela Lansbury e averne ricevuto i complimenti, incontro avvenuto durante il Telegatti del 1999.
4) Le guest star
Nel corso delle 12 stagioni, «La signora in giallo» potè contare su numerose guest star (o future star) che parteciparono agli episodi con dei cammei, aggiungendosi ai personaggi ricorrenti: tra i quali, un giovanissimo George Clooney, un Joaquin Phoenix appena bambino, Leslie Nielsen, Neil Patrick Harris e tanti altri.
5) Un reboot? No grazie
Nel 2013 la rete americana NBC stava sviluppando un reboot de La signora in giallo con protagonista il premio Oscar Octavia Spencer. In quell’occasione Angela Lansbury non si fece problemi a mostrarsi scettica verso il nuovo progetto. “Penso che sia un errore chiamarlo Murder, She Wrote, perché Murder, She Wrote riguarderà sempre una Cabot Cove e questo meraviglioso piccolo gruppo di persone che hanno raccontato quelle storie adorabili, si sono goduti quel posto, e si sono anche divertiti con Jessica Fletcher, che è un tipo di persona rara e molto caratterizzata“, disse pur riservando parole gentili a Octavia Spencer. “L’ho vista in “The Help” e ho pensato che fosse assolutamente meravigliosa, un’attrice adorabile.
