TRAP SHOOTING
Il tiro a segno (o trap shooting in Nord America) è una delle tre principali discipline del tiro competitivo ai piccioni d’argilla. Le altre discipline sono il tiro allo skeet e le argille sportive. Il trap shooting è praticato in tutto il mondo, ma è più popolare negli Stati Uniti (in particolare nel Midwest), in Canada ed Europa. Le varianti del trap shooting includono le internazionali “olympic trap”, conosciute anche come “International Trap”, “Bunker”, ISSF Trap e Trench. Le varianti di tiro non olimpiche includono Down-The-Line, noto anche come “DTL”, e Nordic Trap. American Trap è la versione predominante negli Stati Uniti e in Canada ed ha due organi di governo indipendenti.
La Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) sanziona gli eventi, così come la Pacific International Trapshooting Association (PITA), che li sanziona sulla costa occidentale del Nord America. Il tiro a segno è stato uno sport dalla fine del XVIII secolo, quando sono stati usati veri uccelli; di solito il piccione passeggero, che era estremamente abbondante all’epoca. Gli uccelli venivano posti sotto i cappelli o in trappole che venivano poi rilasciate. Gli uccelli artificiali furono introdotti all’epoca della guerra civile americana.
L’ATA ospita i Grand American World Trap Shooting Championships, che si svolgono ogni agosto. Dopo decenni a Vandalia, (Ohio) il “Grand” si trasferì nel nuovo World Shooting and Recreational Complex a Sparta, Illinois. È stato presentato come il più grande evento di tiro al mondo fino a quando il Minnesota State Championship della USA High School Clay Target League, tenutosi ad Alexandria (MN) ha raggiunto oltre 5.000 partecipanti nel giugno 2015, nonostante questo il “Grand” rimane ancora l’evento più importante per i fan del genere.
Come funziona?
L’American Trap è suddiviso in tre categorie: singolare, doppio, handicap. I bersagli vengono lanciati da una macchina situata a livello del suolo approssimativamente e coperta da una “botola”. Per single e doppie, ci sono cinque “stazioni”, ognuna di 16 iarde (15,6 m) dietro la “botte casa”. Nei singoli, ogni concorrente spara a cinque bersagli da ogni stazione. La macchina trappola oscilla da sinistra a destra all’interno di un arco di 54 gradi e il concorrente non sa da dove emergerà il bersaglio. In doppio, la macchina non oscilla, ma lancia due bersagli contemporaneamente a ogni concorrente sparando a cinque coppie (10 bersagli) da ogni stazione. Negli eventi handicap, la macchina funziona come nei singoli, ma i tiratori si allontanano più lontano dalla “casa trappola”.
